Eco Council

Wyke's Eco Code

Eco thinking saves the World
Conserve energy and reduce waste
Observe and protect our environment and nature

Eco Council meet regularly and this year we have been working towards the Eco Schools Green Flag award.

We completed an audit of the school before Christmas and have chosen to focus on the topics Energy, Waste and Global Citizen. We have enjoyed making posters and reminders about recycling and turning off lights and board; we have put them up around school to remind our friends and teachers.

We continue to recycle pens and batteries and we have moved to refillable glue sticks. Find out more by watching the video on YouTube.

On Friday 3rd May 2024 we will hold a Dress Green Day. This year we would like to raise some money to buy pollinator friendly plants for areas around our school grounds. Everyone is invited to wear either a green item of clothing, recycled or preloved clothes or clothes made from environmentally friendly materials, such as cotton and wool – have a peek at the labels!

idleEco Council would like to remind parents to please turn off their car engines during drop off and pickup. Leaving your engine running wastes fuel and pollutes the air around school.
